Abstract

Pemindahan Ibu Kota Negara ke Kalimantan Timur memberikan dampak signifikan terhadap perkembangan Kota Balikpapan sebagai pintu gerbang utama wilayah tersebut. Hal ini membuka peluang besar bagi pengembangan fasilitas publik berskala nasional maupun internasional, termasuk bangunan dengan fungsi MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions). Perancangan gedung pertunjukan sebagai bagian dari fasilitas MICE menjadi urgensi untuk mendukung kegiatan ekonomi, sosial, dan budaya yang masif. Penelitian ini mengusung pendekatan Performance-Oriented Design yang dikombinasikan dengan prinsip arsitektur biomimikri, guna menciptakan bangunan yang efisien, responsif terhadap iklim tropis Balikpapan, dan berkelanjutan secara lingkungan. Pendekatan biomimikri digunakan untuk meniru strategi-strategi adaptif dari organisme lokal dalam menghadapi tantangan iklim, seperti ventilasi alami, bentuk struktur, dan sistem pengelolaan air hujan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kondisi kontekstual, merumuskan konsep desain, serta menyusun rekomendasi perancangan berbasis kinerja bangunan. Hasil yang diharapkan adalah terciptanya alternatif desain gedung pertunjukan yang tidak hanya fungsional, tetapi juga mampu menjadi penanda arsitektur berkelanjutan di Kalimantan Timur.
